Too much STUFF!

January 6th, 2007 at 06:58 pm

How in the world did I accumulate all this? And not just talking about the pile of purses or closets of coats and clothes, but about the rest of this "stuff?" I have about 6 large boxes of random stuff which I can't believe made the trip up from North Carolina with me when I moved. I mean, these boxes are filled with gift wrap, bags, pens and pencils, empty notebooks, random funny artifacts, postcards, more random artifacts, batteries (do these expire?), and old computer parts (zip drive, anybody?)

I honestly have to start using up this "stuff" or else have less emotional attachment to it. It's actually a bit upsetting, to be honest, lots of these items are replacable, like candles, stationary, envelopes, office supplies. But when I was moving, I sold off things such as kitchen appliances and furniture which I now regret selling. Those bulky items were sold for the sake of being able to pack my apartment into my car without renting a Uhaul. Sure, they are replacable, but did I need to fillup my cargo space with those other items?

i feel your pain, sister! i'm sitting in my 'office' right now surrounded by more paper, notebooks, pens, and random crap than you could shake a stick at... yes, batteries do expire, so you might want to test them before putting somewhere appropriate. as for the envelopes staionary office supplies, you might want to check with a local school or day-care to see if they could use them for crafts or something similar. donate it!

I think there is a possibility that we are related. You should see my house, it is crazy with stuff, my stuff, my kids stuff, my moms stuff (that I had borrowed and haven't returned yet.)

I really dislike living in c.h.a.o.s. (can't have anybody over sydrome)

I have taken a little bite today,

Set aside 15 minutes and do a keep , toss and donate pile with the contents.
I am always amazed at how little I really need to keep.

    good luck

The New Year is the perfect time to get organized. . . separate the chaff from the wheat. I try to store my emotional baggage (attachment to stuff) in a box right along with everything else. Good luck and Happy New Year Smile

My mantra at the office supply store:

I have that, I have that, I have a lot of that.

I really say the mantra out loud. Big Grin
